Plants possess a unique world and intelligence of their own, which can be challenging to relate to due to their slower movements compared to other organisms and their underground communication systems. The research focusses on the layered history and properties of wild plants growing in suburban areas of the city of Tanger, navigating different forms of collaboration and knowledge production.

During the residency, I engaged in collective walks and workshops to explore how wild plants such as the garland daisy, wild thistles and Cretan mellow utilize colour, movement, and fragrance to adapt and survive in the urban environment, highlighting their contrast with the cultivated vegetation maintained by the city government.

In these workshops, we explored and imagined the stories these plants can tell us and how we can connect with them. This research, including stories, drawings, textile experiments and a publication created with the children of the Birchifae neighbourhood. The work was presented at the art centre of Think Tanger and was made possible in collaboration and support of The Mothership and Mondriaan Fonds.
